Psalm 23 Study – By Raziah Verse 1: “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.” • God is my provider for today and tomorrow. • A shepherd tends, guards, guides, and knows the needs of his sheep. • I am created to be led, not to lead myself. • God knows what I need better than I do.
✨ Trust Him with today and what’s ahead.
Spiritual Journey of Psalm 23:
Sin → Restoration → Righteousness → Valley → Victory → Abundance → Eternal Presence
Verse 2: “He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.” • “Lie down” = rest from striving, rest for the weary. • Green pastures = provision (spiritual + physical) • Still waters = peace and spiritual safety • God walks with me, not just ahead of me.
✨ I’m led into places better than I could choose for myself.
Verse 3: “He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” • Restore (Hebrew) = to give me my life back • Righteousness = • Positional: What Christ has done on the cross • Practical: Obedience in my everyday life • We are made right by faith, not works. • Romans 6:1 – “Shall we continue in sin so grace may abound?” NO(I said no lol) • Proverbs 22:1 – A good name is better than riches. God’s name is tied to how He leads us.
✨ His guidance reflects His goodness.
Verse 4: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death…” • God is with me even in the lowest valleys. • His rod = correction; His staff = comfort • Mark 4:35–41 – Jesus was calm in the storm. • Peace doesn’t come after the storm. Peace comes within the storm. • Isaiah 43:2 – “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.”
✨ The storm doesn’t have to stop for me to have peace.
Verse 5: “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies…” • Table = blessings, provision, and favor even when enemies are watching • Luke 22 – Judas at the table: • Sometimes betrayal comes through affection • God may allow people in your space for His purpose
✨ God honors and blesses me even in difficult relationships.
Verse 5: “You anoint my head with oil…” • Oil = being set apart, empowered, healed • In biblical times, oil was used: • To anoint prophets, priests, and kings • To heal and protect sheep from pests and wounds
